# Settings

The app's **Settings** hold what applies to all your stores: their types, the address of their pages and the look of the map. They are split into sections, listed in a menu on the left (a selector at the top on a phone): **Types and publishing**, **Map** and **Online store pages**, which holds the store pages and the country pages. Open a section, change what you want, then click **Save** in the bar at the top of the screen: it saves that section only.

## Types and publishing

A table lists your store types ("Flagship", "Store", "Stockist"…), with their number of stores, and the **default channels** of each one:

| Channel | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Store page** | The type's new stores get their own page on your online store. |
| **Store locator** | The type's new stores show on the map and in the list of the store locator. |

For example: a page for your own shops, none for your stockists.

The last row, **Stores without a type**, gives the channels of a new store without a type, and those of the types you will create. By default, the store locator only: a store page is a public address, so you choose which stores get one.

**The order of the types** is the order of your country pages and store lists (see below), and of their type filter. To change it, drag a row by its handle, left of the type, then click **Save**. With the keyboard: focus the handle, then use the up and down arrow keys. A new type comes last.

:::caution[Default channels]
These channels apply to new stores, created on their page or by an import. Changing a box touches no existing store: each one keeps its channels, which you change on its page. To apply them to the stores of a type, use **Apply to existing stores**.
:::

### Manage your types

- **Add a type**: under the table, enter the new type's name, then save the Settings. It gets the channels of the stores without a type.
- A type's "…" menu offers:

| Action | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Rename** | The new name shows on your online store. Its stores keep their pages, and its marker and channels stay the same. |
| **Apply to existing stores** | Its stores take its default channels. The window tells what changes before you confirm, for example how many stores will lose their page. |
| **Delete** | Deletes the type. If it has stores, choose the type they take instead, or **No type**: this is also how two types are merged. They keep their channels. |

A type's number of stores opens the stores list filtered on that type.

:::note[Good to know]
- A type stays in the list even when it has no store left, until you delete it.
- Two types can't have the same name, whatever the capital letters.

### A type's marker

Each type has its marker on the map, at the start of its row. Click it to open the **Marker of…** window:

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Color** | The color of its stores' marker. Empty, it is the default color, set in the Map card. |
| **Custom marker** | An SVG from your Files, in place of the default marker. The middle of its bottom edge points to the address. Choose it from your files, or upload a new one. |

With a custom marker:

- without a color, it keeps its own colors;
- with a color, it takes that color, in one tint: its shape works as a stencil.

The marker shows on the store locator, in its legend, and on the map of its stores' pages. It is saved with the Settings.

## Store pages

Each store page has an address like `your-store.com/pages/stores/paris-le-marais`. The **Store pages path** is the middle word ("stores"), shared by every page.

You can change it, for example to "shops". Every page changes address, and the old addresses redirect to the new ones: links already shared and search engine results keep working. These redirects show in **Content > Menus > URL redirects**.

## Country pages

A page per country on your online store, listing its stores: see [Your online store](/docs/merchants/online-store/#country-and-city-pages).

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Publish a page per country** | Creates a page for each country with enough stores on the store locator. Off by default. |
| **Country pages path** | The middle word of their address: `your-store.com/pages/stores-country/france` by default. It must differ from the store pages'. |
| **Minimum stores per country** | A country with fewer stores has no page. 10 by default: search engines see pages for a handful of stores as made to catch searches. |

:::note[Good to know]
- Each country's page title, meta description and introduction are edited in **Content > Metaobjects > Country page**, and translate like the rest of your store.
- A country that falls under the minimum leaves your online store, and comes back with its texts once it has enough stores again.
- Changing the path changes the address of every country page, without redirects from the old ones: a warning under the field says so before you save.
:::

## City pages

A page per city on your online store, listing its stores. With the country pages on, a country's page links its cities.

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Publish a page per city** | Creates a page for each city with enough stores on the store locator. Off by default. |
| **City pages path** | The middle word of their address: `your-store.com/pages/stores-city/france-lyon` by default. It must differ from the store and country pages'. |
| **Minimum stores per city** | A city with fewer stores has no page. 10 by default: search engines see pages for a handful of stores per city as made to catch searches. |

:::note[Good to know]
- A city is its name as written on your stores: "Paris" and "Paris 15" are two cities. Fix the city of your stores to bring them together.
- Each city's page title, meta description and introduction are edited in **Content > Metaobjects > City page**.
- As for the countries, a city under the minimum leaves your online store, and changing the path moves every page without redirects.
:::

## Breadcrumb

**Show the breadcrumb on the country and city pages** (off by default) shows the path above them: Home / France / Lyon. Search engines always get it, in the pages' structured data. Your theme may style its own breadcrumbs differently on its other pages: check the look on your online store.

## Map

The map of the store locator and of the store pages, whatever your theme.

### Map provider

Two cards at the top, **Mapbox** (the default) or **Google Maps**, each with a picture of its map. Each provider keeps its own settings: switching to the other one and back loses nothing.

### Mapbox

| Choice | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **App key** | Included with the app. Choose a map style, **Classic**, **Light** (light, with grey roads and the relief), **Monochrome** (all in greys) or **Dark**; the preview shows it. |
| **Your own Mapbox token** | A public token of your Mapbox account. Map loads are billed to your Mapbox account, not by the app. |

With your own token:

- use a public token (it starts with `pk.`) restricted to your online store's domain: a secret token (`sk.`) is refused, as it would be readable on your online store;
- the **Style URL** is optional: a style made in Mapbox Studio, like `mapbox://styles/your-account/style-id`. Without one, the Classic style. To show a style of your account, the token needs the `styles:tiles` scope.

### Google Maps

| Choice | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **App key** | Included with the app. Choose a map style, **Classic** or **Light**; the preview shows it on a real map. |
| **Custom key** | Your own Google Maps Platform key and Map ID. Map loads are billed to your Google Cloud account, not by the app. You set the map style in the Google Cloud console. |

With a custom key:

- the key must allow the Maps JavaScript API and the Maps Static API, from your online store's domain;
- the Map ID must come from the same Google Cloud project as the key.

Switching back to the app key keeps the token, key and Map ID you entered.

### Store groups color

The color of the ring and the number of the circles that group nearby stores on the store locator's map, on white. The map preview shows an example circle. A color too light to read on white is refused.

### Default marker color

The color of the markers of stores without a type, and of those whose type has no color. The map style preview shows it. Each type's marker is set in the **Types and publishing** table: see [A type's marker](#a-types-marker).

:::note[Good to know]
- Choose colors dark enough to stand out on the map.
- A multicolored custom marker becomes a one-color silhouette if you give it a color.
- These settings stay in place if you change themes.
- The app's own maps (a store's page in the app, the Google preview) always use the app's Google key: your own token or key is only used on your online store.
